Rhomberg Sersa was awarded the five-year contract to operate and maintain the 14 machines which are owned by Irish Rail with an option to extend this term to seven years. Irish Rail later decided to exercise this option to July 2026.
In 2025 the competitive tendering process was opened under EU public procurement rules with a new contract expected to be awarded to the successful company in 2026.
We operate on the Irish Rail network under our own Safety Case and we are licensed by the Irish Commission for Railway Regulation (CRR). We are also certified for Ireland and the UK as an “Entity in Charge of Maintenance” or ECM.
We work closely with RSRG sister companies to offer a full range of rail services in Ireland.
Included in the work we carry out is:
- Tamping
- Ballast Cleaning
- Surveying
- Digital rail services
The maintenance work on the network is carried out 24/7 nationwide.
